Blessed!

First off I would like to apologize for taking so long to post another blog. Anyways, this past weekend was my bachelorette weekend. Nine of my closest friend and I spent the weekend in Charleston, SC. We had a great time. We got there friday night and me, amy, kristy and holly ate dinner at Banana Cabanas while we were waiting for everyone else to get into town. We stayed at a house on the Isle of Palms that slept 24 people. It was beautiful, had a view of the ocean, porches all around and a widows walk. When Amy, Kristy, Holly and I got there first, it was like the real world. We toured the whole house and picked out our rooms. Every bedroom had its own bathroom, which was really nice with 10 girls!! It had a pool, although we did not need it and an extra family room upstairs. Oh and did I mention an elevator... yes. Amy and Liz got on the elevator but, it was not exactly needed. We also went to the gas station on the island to get beer etc. for the night. We encountered some very entertaining drunk people there. We stayed up late friday night drinking, talking and playing catch phrase. We played blondes vs. brunettes because there was 5 of each! The next morning we got up and went to breakfast. And might I add that we had said the night before we wanted to get out of the house by 10. And all of us 10 girls were ready by 9:45. I think that is a record. We then went to breakfast paid for by my dad!! We went to downtown charleston to enjoy the market and all the shopping. While downtown we also took a carriage ride through historic charleston which was beautiful!! We then made it back to the house where we rested for a couple of hours, refreshed and got ready to go out for the night. We took a cab downtown to the Noisy Oyster where we had dinner and then bar hopped around charleston for the evening. Our last stop was the saloon, which is not like the saloon in Columbia that only plays country music, it was what they called down there the coyote ugly bar. We had a lot of fun dancing and getting free shots from the bar owner. We then hitched a ride back in a cab driven by our fabulous cab drive Keith! The next morning we woke up and sadly had to get back on the road. I was exhausted but managed to make it back without falling asleep. The whole weekend my friends were amazing. They would not let me pay for a thing. I didn't even have to drive my car!! Although there were a few people missing this weekend that I would have like to have had there, it was blast. I could not ask for better friends and I have to say that I am truly blessed!! Thank you all!!

Pictures to come!!

I think the first one is from the rehearsal dinner. They might be out of order. And some are from after the wedding at Wet Willie's and Kristy and Dave came out later!!

A much needed post

Okay, so I have been away for a while and I am sorry. Let me give you a quick update on what has been going on in my life. As some of you may know I started a new job at the end of June. I am working for Rogers, Townsend & Thomas a big law firm with about 300 employees. I work on the second floor of a 3 story building in a 5 by 4 cube. This is my first real experience in Cube world. You hear everything that is going on around you and you have no idea what is going on in the outside world. I do however have my cube decorated with pictures of family and Tank of course. Everyone comes by and says what a cute dog and then I wish he could come to work with me, that would be so much fun. The ladies I work with are CRAZY!! The make work very entertaining always joking with each other. My title is Bankruptcy/Eviction Specialist. Most of the work I do is Bankruptcy but about one week out of the month, the week after the foreclosure sales, is extremely busy. This job is quite different from what I use to do. Bankruptcy has its own court and own set of rules and can get quite complicated. I am still learning and probably will be for as long as I work there. Everything I do except for making copies of letter I do to send out in the mail, is on the computer. All the creditors have multiple websites to keep their Bankruptcy process up to date. It is amazing how it all works. What did they do before computers? Needless to say there are a WHOLE LOT of people filing for Bankruptcy. It's actually kind of sad. I always pictured myself having a job where I helped people and that was one of the reasons I wanted to be a paralegal. I thought I could work with a law firm that represented the Elderly in lawsuits versus nursing homes, etc. But those positions are few and far between and they want lots of experience. So I took what I could get and here I am helping banks and mortgage companies take people to the cleaners and kick them out of their house. It's hard. It's a job, it's not bad, but it's not great. With the economy the way it is, I had to take the job, or else I might be the name that comes across their computer. Anyways, one of the reasons I have not been blogging as much is because like I said, I do everything on the computer. I stare at a computer screen ALL DAY LONG. When I get home from work, the last thing I want to do it look at a computer. In the mornings I usually turn on my computer while eating my cereal and check every one's blog and my email etc., but I never have enough time in the morning to really write anything. So I told myself I would blog this week. Although there are no pictures I hope this helps everyone understand why I have been MIA.

Since the stock the bar party, other than starting a new job I have been very busy. I have been to Richmond 4 times for wedding stuff and a friends wedding. Some of my bridesmaids back home gave through me a shower, and some of Mike's groomsmen and their wives, girlfriends, etc. gave us a Tailgate shower. The shower back home Mike was not able to go to because it was for girls only and it was very nice. The Tailgate shower was for both of us and ended up being a lot of fun. I ended up jumping in the lake in my clothes. Go figure, I have a thing with water. We went home for my Grandma's birthday and I had the most awesome gift for her. One day I was sitting around bored and started googling names. I googled my grandfather's name and found a picture of him in a book that was published in 2007. My grandfather died in 2004 from Alzheimer's. The book is San Francisco During WWII. There was a picture of him that had been on the front cover of a magazine in San Fransisco. We had seen the picture, but never the magazine and the fact the picture was put in a book was pretty cool. My great great grandfather on my dad's side was Silas Talbot, who was the first Commander of the USS Constitution. WE have a whole book on him at home. I love history and to have my grandfather in this book is just amazing. I am also related to Winston Churchill.

I also went back Labor Day weekend. My brother was in town. He had flown in to see UVA play USC (Trojans) and came back to Richmond after the game. It was good to see him since I had not see him since Christmas and probably will not see him until the wedding.

I have no plans to go back to Richmond until Thanksgiving. But my mom and dad are coming down in October which makes me happy because I miss them a lot.

Until then we have lots of Gamecock football to look forward to and Kristy and Dave's wedding.

I will try to post more often, I can't promise anything exciting but maybe the Bankruptcy filings will slow down a little, but not too much that I don't have a job!

Stock the Bar

Saturday night Mike and I finally had our housewarming "Stock the Bar" party and the first party at our house since we moved in. Here are some of the many pictures from the night!

Of course what would a party be without Cigars

and cornhole ? (Thanks Devin for letting us borrow your set even though you couldn't make it to our party)

We surprised Holly with a birthday cake because her birthday had been earlier this week! Unfortunately Mike and Dave did not pick up any candles so we had to use a candle from the dinning room. Next time I think I will do the shopping.

I had got Tyson with silly string earlier in the night (sorry there is not a picture, mike had the camera) little did I know that our neighbors had some at their house and let Tyson get me back.

Flip Cup!

Mike and I decided we were going to get everyone to sign the "stripper pole" this is Grady hard at work.

Of course Tank loves it when people are here, because he gets spoiled with human food.

Dave...

Mike.. ......who knows

Liz got to come for a short time after work!

Keith and Amy putting the pole to good use

And of course the night ended by attacking Matt Falls who passed out early and then..

Mike and Jon attacking each other.

The end results. I think it was a success!!

Thanks to everyone that made it out here we were so glad that we had a good turnout and the weather held out as well. (Sorry if I didn't get you in a picture on here. I tried to use the ones that came out the best. )We had a great time and we can't wait to have more parties at our house!

The Bucket List

So this past weekend my parents came to town for Father's Day. However, they did not arrive in SC until Saturday. Mike worked Friday night until 9 and then rented a movie, The Bucket List. It stars Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson. The story is about two older men that have just been given a short time to live. They meet in the hospital after numerous sessions of radiation they come up with an idea of a "Bucket List" or things they would like to do before they "kick the bucket." There are some fun things like sky diving and my favorite, "Witness something truly majestic." I had seen previews for this movie and definitely wanted to see it, however the previews only showed the funny parts. So I was thinking of Queen Latifah's Last Holiday which was just a corny little movie where she finds out in the end that her results go mixed up. Anyways, little did I know, or think it would be such a tear jerker. I am not one to cry a lot, I rarely cry at movies, and if I do it is probably because an animal has died, not a human. This movie is an amazing story of friendship and makes you hope that everyone out there has a friend like they found in each other. I know the reviews were not good, and I hate to cry, but it truly was such a touching movie. I would recommend it, just make sure you have a box of tissues, because yes you will cry, but smile simultaneously.

Recipe.. breakfast style

Okay so breakfast is by far my favorite meal to make here is a quick simple easy recipe that is also great for tailgating for noon games!

Crescent Roles Casserole

What you will need:

Two packages of Pillsbury Golden Fluffy Crescent Rolls
1 pound of sausage ( I use the jimmy bean mild)
4 eggs (I use egg beaters but regular eggs work too)
2 cups of cheese ( I use Kraft Fat Free Sharp Chedder)

Cook sausage in pan until all the pink is gone. Open one roll of crescent rolls and lay it flat in casserole dish. smooth the edges where they are perferated. In a bowl mix sausage, cheese and eggs(uncooked). Pour mixture on top of crescent rolls. Unroll second crescent roll and lay it on top in pan. Cook according to time on crescent roll package. Some oven times may vary.

Its delicious and easy!!

Week in review..

So as some of you may know last tuesday I was laid off from my job and I have been spending the past week looking for jobs. Fortunately I had a fun weekend to break things up and get my mind off things. I went to Dataw Island (Beaufort) for my friend Carol's bachelorette weekend. We had a lot of fun. Drank LOTS of wine. Flipped over a golf cart. Broke my camera :( tried to fix my camera and shocked myself. NOTE: do not try to fix your own camera after drinking lots of wine by unscrewing every screw and thinking you know what you are doing. I took a couple of picture before the camera broke, however since the camera is broken I cannot upload the pictures. It was a nice weekend and we had Beautiful weather and it had been a while since I had seen the beach or the sun. Then last night Mike finally bit the bullet and bought a new car. Well not completely new but a 2004 Ford F-150 Lariat. It is very big, grey/blue in color, leather interior, extended cab with all the bells and wistles. Needless to say it's a lot more comfortable than the Danger Ranger. And the best part about the truck was that I got to drive it home because I could not drive the Ranger home because I do not know how to drive a stick shift. At one point on the drive home (from Two Notch rd. so like a 25 min drive) Mike was in front of me and and called him on the phone and said "Beep Beep move out the way I am going to run over your little peanut truck." It was funny I felt so high and big up in that truck. It may be a while before there are pictures on here, but we will see I don't know how long I can live without a camera. But then again, I don't have a job to afford it. If anyone knows any leads for jobs in columbia please let me know.

Thanks!!!

The Chicken Man and the Flea Market

Over the past few weeks Mike and I have been (cheaply) looking for art to put on our walls.

Yesterday we made a stop by Ernest Lee "The Chickenman" to see if he would paint a picture of Tank. Not only did he paint the picture....

he gave us these 3 for free! We were extremely excited and it was well worth it!

A couple of weekends ago we went to the Barnyard Flea Market to see if they had any pictures. When we were arrived we were very excited to see everything was half off so we got two pictures for our bedroom, which was pretty bare. One is of the Battery in Charleston at night.

The other is a picture of a marsh and sunset. It was hard to show these pictures because my flash was bouncing off the glass and then when i turned my flash off you could still see the ceiling fan lights. Wish they were better.

Needless to say I think we did pretty well. We still have some bare walls, but they are coming along!!
